It's been done before. That's your answer. The question of course was, "What if I write an article or book on ...?" Fill in the blank. It doesn't matter what the topic is, it's been done before... time and time again.

Okay, perhaps that's a slight over-exaggeration. Occasionally there is a new topic, a new drug that's been developed, a new disaster or other noteworthy event, but for the most part, the topic you've chosen has been written about before.

So where does that leave the freelance writer or book author? In a great position... one where they have to do what they love best... use their creativity to write. I don't mean creativity through your style, prose or presentation of the material, but through the story's angle. Find the unusual or little known facts of a popular topic, research, and fly with it. You'll give new life to a tired old topic. Go ahead, challenge yourself and your readers - give the world something new to think about.
